Requirements & Roles

The Team Manager plays a critical role in supporting the McKinney Ice Hockey Club’s High School teams by handling many off-ice responsibilities that ensure the program runs smoothly—especially on game days.

This volunteer position requires a commitment to be present at all home and away games throughout the season, as well as occasional practices and team events, to help coordinate logistics, support coaches, and serve as the primary point of contact for players’ families.

In addition to keeping parents and players informed via Crossbar — the club’s official communication and scheduling platform

Administrative Support

  • Maintain and update team rosters, player and parent contact information.


  • Coordinate and distribute practice and game schedules using Crossbar to keep players, coaches, and families informed.


  • Assist with collecting and managing team registration fees as needed.


  • Ensure Schedules in Crossbar match to officially published league schedules in HockeyShift & the league website. AT&T HSHL Schedule


  • Update Crossbar with schedule changes.

Game Day Coordination

  • Ensure players RSVP in SportEngine and provide attendance updates to coaches before each game.


  • Ensure assignment of locker room monitors complying with USA Hockey & SafeSport policies.


  • Print and deliver Line Up Cards for coaches; coaches will finalize selections before submitting to game officials.


  • Organize transportation for away games (carpools)


  • Ensure all equipment and supplies needed for games are packed and ready.


  • Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment before and after games & manage water bottles.

Communication

  • Serve as the primary contact for team-related matters, connecting coaches, players, and parents.


  • Relay all important updates, schedules, and event info via email, text, and team apps.

Event Planning

  • Coordinate team-building activities, community service, and team meals to enhance team spirit.


  • Organize and manage team meetings, secure venues, and prepare agendas in partnership with the MIHC Board and coaches.


  • Coordinate team pre-game dinners for teams that wish to participate.

Compliance & Safety

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to school and league rules (player eligibility, safety protocols like certified neck guards & HECC helmet checks).


  • Facilitate grade checks throughout the season, including all players (MISD UIL Calendar applies for all, regardless of school type).


  • File Academic Eligibility Forms for any ineligible players to league officials and MIHC JV & Varsity Representative Board members in accordance with the 2025-2026 MISD UIL Calendar (See academic eligibility)


  • Maintain current emergency contact lists for all players and parents.


  • Ensure concussion baseline info and SafeSport certificates are submitted to the MIHC Safety Officer.


  • Ensure locker room monitors enforce the MIHC cell phone policy in line with USA Hockey guidelines.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, assign, and manage volunteers for vital roles: scorekeeping, timekeeping, water bottles, locker room monitors, photography/videography, etc.


  • Photography – Work with assigned photographers to ensure all game and event photos are uploaded promptly and organized on the MIHC SharePoint site. Maintaining a complete, well-organized photo library throughout the season is essential for use in marketing, social media, and the end-of-season banquet program and team presentations.

Liaison Duties

  • Serve as the connection between parents and designated Board Representatives (JV or Varsity).


  • Represent the team at relevant events when needed.

Uniform & Equipment Management

  • Assist with distributing uniforms and equipment orders at the start of the season.
