Our History

Founded in 1996, the McKinney Ice Hockey Club (MIHC) has grown from a local youth sports initiative into one of Texas's most accomplished and respected high school hockey programs. What began as an opportunity for young athletes in McKinney, Texas, to experience the game has evolved into a powerhouse program known for its competitive edge, player development, and championship pedigree.

From the beginning, MIHC built its foundation on a commitment to hard work, sportsmanship, and personal growth, which have remained central to its success for nearly three decades. The club has consistently focused on nurturing talent, instilling a passion for hockey, and helping players develop both on and off the ice.

2024–2025: A Season to Remember

The 2024–2025 season was a defining chapter in club history. The Varsity Gold team battled through a highly competitive slate, ultimately clinching the Texas State Championship and adding another trophy to the collection.

That win earned MIHC a coveted invitation to represent Texas at the 2025 USA Hockey High School National Championship Tournament, where the team competed against the best high school squads from across the country. Facing elite programs on a national stage, the team showcased the skill, discipline, and determination that define McKinney hockey—making the entire community proud.

A Program Built for All Levels

McKinney’s success extends far beyond its Varsity achievements. The program has consistently developed championship-caliber teams across its divisions:

  • In 2013, the Junior Varsity Silver Team captured the State Title.

  • In 2016 and 2017, McKinney teams earned league and tournament runner-up honors, showing depth and excellence throughout the program.

Tradition. Teamwork. Excellence.

Each year, the McKinney Ice Hockey Club continues to push the standard for what’s possible in Texas high school hockey. The club’s culture—rooted in teamwork, discipline, and respect for the game—produces not just highly skilled hockey players, but well-rounded young adults who carry those values into every part of their lives.

With a proud legacy, a history of success at both state and national levels, and a promising future ahead, the MIHC remains committed to developing the next generation of champions—on the ice and beyond.
