Michael Tallo Coaching Bio
Personal Background
Growing up in Mckinney, Mike developed his passion for hockey at a young age. He came up through the ranks playing youth hockey with DJHA and Alliance, and later competed for Mckinney on Varsity Gold. His dedication to the game led him to the Junior level, where he played for the Southern Oregon Spartans where they competed in the USA Hockey Junior National championship. Mike continued his hockey journey at the collegiate level with Franklin Pierce University before transferring to the University of Arkansas. There, he was part of a dominant run as the Razorbacks captured SEC Championships from 2013 to 2015. He also played a key leadership role in the program’s inaugural ACHA Division 1 season in the WCHL.
Today, Mike lives in McKinney with his wife, Melissa. Outside the rink, he works as a sales rep in the sports apparel industry, combining his professional career with his lifelong connection to the sport he loves.
Coaching Philosophy
Mike’s coaching philosophy centers on hard work, accountability, and a team-first mindset. While individual skill is a key component of the game, he believes that a strong work ethic, coachability, and a genuine willingness to learn are what truly set great players apart. For Mike, success on the ice starts with showing up each day with a positive attitude and a commitment to both personal growth and team development.
