McKinney Ice Hockey Club Policy on Secondary Communication Channels

McKinney Ice Hockey Club (MIHC) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all players, coaches, and families in accordance with USA Hockey SafeSport guidelines and organizational codes of conduct.

While MIHC provides official, monitored communication channels (e.g., email, Crossbar, team apps) for disseminating club information, it is recognized that players and families may also use secondary or unofficial channels of communication such as personal group chats, social media platforms, or text message threads.

Policy Statement

MIHC does not monitor, manage, or endorse these secondary communication channels.

  • Players, coaches, and parents are reminded that when they participate in any form of communication connected to the team or its members, they are representatives of McKinney Ice Hockey Club and are expected to uphold the highest standards of behavior.

  • Any content that is harmful, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, or otherwise violates the USA Hockey Code of Conduct, the MIHC Player Code of Conduct, or the USA Hockey SafeSport policy is strictly prohibited, regardless of whether it occurs in official or unofficial venues.

Enforcement

If MIHC becomes aware of any activity within secondary communication channels that violates established codes of conduct, it will be addressed swiftly and appropriately.

  • Consequences may include disciplinary action up to and including suspension or removal from the program, in accordance with USA Hockey guidelines.

  • Serious violations involving harassment, bullying, or abuse will be escalated under USA Hockey SafeSport reporting procedures.

Expectations

  • Players and families are expected to use responsible judgment when engaging in unofficial communications involving teammates or other members of MIHC.

  • All parties are encouraged to bring any concerns regarding communication misconduct to the MIHC Board or SafeSport coordinator.
