McKinney Ice Hockey Club (“MIHC”) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants and to aligning its practices with USA Hockey’s non‑discrimination, respect, and Safe Sport principles. MIHC expects everyone involved in the club: players, parents, coaches, volunteers, officials, and fans to uphold these standards at all times on and off the ice.

Non‑Discrimination Commitment

MIHC does not discriminate in its programs, activities, team participation, or employment‑related decisions on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law or USA Hockey policy.

This commitment applies to player selection and ice time decisions (when based on hockey‑related factors), coaching and volunteer opportunities, scholarships/financial assistance, and access to club events and facilities.

Harassment, bullying, or abusive treatment based on any protected characteristic is strictly prohibited and may result in discipline under MIHC’s Code of Conduct, SafeSport/MAAPP policies, and USA Hockey rules. MIHC also prohibits retaliation against any person who, in good faith, reports discrimination or cooperates in a related inquiry.

Inclusive Participation and Respect

MIHC supports inclusive participation in youth and high school hockey and expects all participants to treat one another with dignity and respect, regardless of background or identity. Derogatory language, slurs, or behavior targeting a person’s race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability are incompatible with USA Hockey’s sportsmanship standards and MIHC values.

Coaches and team leaders are expected to model inclusive behavior, address disrespectful conduct, and foster team cultures where every player feels welcome and valued as part of the group. MIHC will consider non‑discriminatory, hockey‑related criteria (such as skill, effort, attendance, and adherence to team rules) when making decisions about rosters, roles, and opportunities.

Alignment with USA Hockey and SafeSport

MIHC follows applicable USA Hockey policies and the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code, which prohibit discrimination, sexual and other forms of abuse, and harassment in amateur hockey. Misconduct that may implicate SafeSport such as harassment or abuse tied to a protected characteristic will be handled consistent with MIHC’s SafeSport & MAAPP Implementation Policy and may be reported to USA Hockey, the Affiliate, or the U.S. Center for SafeSport as required.

MIHC will review and update its non‑discrimination and inclusion practices as USA Hockey issues new guidance or as laws and best practices evolve.

Reporting Concerns

Anyone who experiences or witnesses conduct that may violate this Non‑Discrimination & Inclusion Policy is encouraged to report it promptly to a MIHC Board member, the club’s SafeSport/Discipline contact, or another designated club official. Reports will be taken seriously and addressed in good faith under MIHC’s disciplinary and SafeSport procedures, with attention to privacy and safety considerations.

MIHC will not tolerate retaliation against individuals who raise concerns or participate in good‑faith investigations, and may impose sanctions: including warnings, suspension, or removal from roles or participation when violations of this policy are substantiated.
