Game Day Policies & Dress Code

McKinney Ice Hockey Club – Game Day Policy & Dress Code

To uphold the values of excellence, discipline, and team unity that define the McKinney Ice Hockey Club, we have developed a comprehensive Game Day Policy and Dress Code. This policy is designed to ensure that every player and member of our team presents themselves with professionalism, both on and off the ice.

Our appearance and behavior reflect not only on ourselves but also on our teammates, coaches, families, and the broader McKinney community. As such, it is critical that all players adhere to these standards consistently for every game—whether at home, on the road, or during tournaments.

Game Day Procedures

Arrival Time

All players must arrive at the game venue 1 hour before the scheduled start time. This ensures ample time for preparation, warm-up, and team discussions.

Equipment Check

Ensure all personal and team equipment is clean, in good condition, and packed before arriving at the venue. This includes sticks, skates, helmets, pads, and uniforms.

Hydration and Nutrition

Bring a personal water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the game.

Eat a balanced meal before arriving to ensure you have the energy needed for optimal performance.

Focus and Preparation

Use the time before the game for mental preparation, strategy review, and any necessary equipment adjustments.

Avoid distractions and remain focused on the game.

Warm-Up

Participate in the team warm-up sessions as directed by the coaching staff. Proper warm-up is crucial for peak performance and injury prevention.

Conduct

Display sportsmanship and respect towards teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents at all times.

Adhere to the instructions of coaches and team leaders both on and off the ice.

Communication

Timely and proactive communication is a vital part of being a committed member of the McKinney Ice Hockey Club. If you are unable to attend a scheduled game or anticipate being late due to illness, travel issues, family emergencies, or any other unforeseen circumstances, it is your responsibility to notify your coach as soon as possible.

JV Dress Example

Varsity Dress Examples

JV players must be in full game day attire upon arrival and when leaving the rink after games. This demonstrates growing professionalism and team commitment essential at the JV level.

Varsity players are expected to model leadership and maturity—on the ice and off it. Adherence to the dress code should reflect pride in being part of the McKinney Ice Hockey Club and the responsibility to represent the team with dignity at every opportunity.

Additional Guidelines for All Players

  • No headphones, AirPods, or earbuds visible when arriving in game attire unless explicitly permitted by coaches.
  • Uniform must be worn properly at all times—shirts tucked, jackets worn appropriately, and shoes clean.
  • Players should arrive well-groomed, with an overall appearance that reflects attention to detail and respect for the program.
  • At tournaments or overnight trips, additional dress expectations may be set and communicated by coaching staff.

Accountability Matters

All players are expected to comply fully with these uniform policies. Repeated failure to adhere to these expectations may result in disciplinary action, including reduced playing time or team sanctions.
