McKinney Ice Hockey Club Launches Comprehensive Safety Training for Players, Coaches, and Staff

McKinney, TX – August 15, 2025 – The McKinney Ice Hockey Club is proud to have completed our first annual safety training initiative, which involved every player, coach, and staff member in the organization. This proactive program reinforces the club’s commitment not only to athletic excellence but also to community safety and preparedness.

The training covered critical life-saving skills, including:

 • Stop the Bleed Training – equipping participants to respond quickly to traumatic injuries.

 • CPR & AED Training – ensuring readiness for cardiac emergencies both on and off the ice.

 • Basic First Aid – providing knowledge and confidence to treat common injuries until professional help arrives.

“Our goal goes beyond building hockey skills,” said Club President Virgil Renz. “We want our athletes, coaches, and families to be leaders in the community—prepared to act when seconds truly matter.”

By including players at all levels in the training, the McKinney Ice Hockey Club underscores that safety and responsibility are shared by everyone, not just adults or staff. This initiative sets a strong standard for youth sports in the region and reflects the club’s focus on character, teamwork, and community service.

The program also demonstrates the power of sports organizations to support broader community resilience. Whether on the ice, in the stands, or in everyday life, these essential skills can make a lifesaving difference.

The McKinney Ice Hockey Club will share more details about training dates and community involvement opportunities soon. Families, fans, and local supporters are encouraged to engage with the community service initiatives and join in building a safer, more prepared community.
