Fall 2026 - 2027 Season
We are excited to welcome players and families to the 30th season of McKinney Ice Hockey Club and the inaugural season of the Texas Scholastic Hockey League (TSHL). MIHC is a USA Hockey sanctioned 501(c)(3) nonprofit program based in McKinney, Texas, providing competitive high school hockey opportunities for student-athletes in grades 7 through 12. The Club fields JV and Varsity teams and is committed to player development, academic eligibility, safety, character, high-quality coaching, structured practices, and competitive league play.
This season marks an exciting new chapter for high school hockey in North Texas. The TSHL has been established as a dedicated high school hockey league designed to provide a strong, transparent, and student-athlete-focused competitive experience for clubs and families across the region. The league’s 2026-27 registration and operations are underway, with participating players required to register through the TSHL before league play.
Following recent Texas Amateur Hockey Association changes to high school hockey operations, MIHC is again responsible for the day-to-day administration of its own teams within the TSHL structure. This includes ice costs, league fees, officials, coaching, team operations, program administration, and the overall player and family experience.
As MIHC celebrates three decades of hockey in McKinney, the Club remains focused on providing a positive, safe, competitive, and community-centered environment where players and families can grow in the game, on and off the ice.
Ages
- JV players must be incoming 7th -10th grade only (minimum 2013 birth year).
- Varsity players must be incoming 9th-12th grade only. No incoming 7th or 8th graders may play Varsity.
- 2026 graduates and/or Seniors from 25-26 are NOT permitted to participate.
- Players who have played DI or DII Junior Hockey in 25-26 are not permitted to participate.
When
Regular Season Starts- September 11th 2026 with the Leveling Tournament
- Currently TSHL is indicating 2-3 Leaving Games
- 18-Regular Season Games
- + Playoffs
MIHC Is Targeting 20-25 Practice Ice Touches for the season (subject to ice availability and budget constraints).
- Full Ice Practices & Buckles
- Possible Optional Add-On Skills Sessions.
Regular Season Ends- Around March (TBD)

Typically No Games Around Major Holiday Weekends
Where
Games will be played throughout the DFW Metroplex including StarCenter Rinks, Allen Community Ice and NYTEX.
Practices
Practices will be weekly with a mix of full ice, buckle 1 skills practice monthly. Anticipate some weeks having multiple Ice touches.
Games
Games schedules are TBD. Home Teams will play at the rink nearest to their school whenever possible.

TOURNAMENTS
Throughout the season, MIHC teams may have opportunities to participate in optional local, regional, championship, and national-level tournaments. These events offer players additional competition, team-building, and memorable hockey experiences. Separate team fees may apply for tournament entry and required coach/staff travel expenses.

Fall 2026 - 2027 Season
Thank you for joining the excitement and tradition of McKinney Ice Hockey Club! Registration for the 2026-2027 Fall/Winter season is now open to students attending McKinney ISD high schools and middle schools who have been offered roster spots.
Whether you’re competing at the Varsity or Junior Varsity level, we are excited to see you on the ice this season, develop your skills, and represent your school in Texas’s most successful high school hockey program.
