To Our Volunteers & Prospective Volunteers,

First and foremost, we deeply appreciate the incredible commitment, time, and energy you dedicate to our young athletes and the success of our program. Your passion for hockey and youth development makes a lasting impact. Our club thrives because of your support and enthusiasm.

As part of our mission to provide a safe, positive, and compliant environment, we must strictly follow USA Hockey policies regarding Background Checks and SafeSport training. These requirements apply to all volunteers, especially those who have direct contact with minors—such as team managers, coaches, locker room monitors, and anyone in positions of trust.

  • Background Checks: All volunteers in these roles are required to complete and maintain a current USA Hockey-sanctioned background screening.
  • SafeSport Training: SafeSport certification is mandatory for those interacting directly with our young athletes, and must be renewed as required by USA Hockey guidelines.

Thank you for understanding the importance of these policies and for helping us ensure a safe environment for every participant. If you have questions about compliance or need assistance with the process, please reach out to our club’s administrator.

We value your dedication! Together, we’re building something special for the McKinney hockey community!

McKinney Ice Hockey Club Volunteer Policy & Requirements

At McKinney Ice Hockey Club, volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our players, coaches, and the overall operation of our club. We are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all participants, and as such, adhere to the volunteer requirements set forth by USA Hockey.

All volunteers involved in McKinney Ice Hockey Club activities must adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. USA Hockey Registration: All volunteers must register with USA Hockey and provide the necessary background screening as required by USA Hockey's SafeSport program. This ensures that our volunteers meet the standards set forth by the national governing body for ice hockey in the United States.
  2. Completion of SafeSport Training: Volunteers are required to complete the SafeSport training program provided by USA Hockey. This program educates volunteers on important topics such as abuse prevention, bullying prevention, and harassment prevention, promoting a safe and positive environment for all participants.
  3. Certification Requirements: Depending on the role, volunteers may be required to obtain specific certifications such as coaching certifications, officiating certifications, or first aid/CPR certifications. These certifications help ensure that our volunteers are adequately prepared to fulfill their roles and responsibilities within the club.
  4. Code of Conduct: All volunteers are expected to adhere to the McKinney Ice Hockey Club's Code of Conduct, which emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and positive behavior at all times. Volunteers must serve as role models for our players and demonstrate integrity and professionalism in their interactions with others.
  5. Reporting Obligations: Volunteers have a duty to promptly report any concerns or incidents related to safety, misconduct, or violations of club policies to the appropriate club officials or USA Hockey representatives. This helps us maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.
