2026 Summer Tryout
McKinney Ice Hockey Club is a USA Hockey–sanctioned 501(c)(3) program based in McKinney, Texas, offering competitive high school hockey opportunities for student‑athletes in grades 7–12. The club fields JV and Varsity teams, emphasizing skill development, academic eligibility, safety, and character through high‑level coaching, structured practices, and league play. Off the ice, McKinney Ice Hockey Club is committed to community engagement, and creating a positive environment for players and families to grow in the game.
Due to recent changes by the Dallas Stars High School Hockey Advisory Board, operational control for our teams has been remitted from the Stars organization back to the individual clubs. As a result, McKinney Ice Hockey Club (MIHC) is now responsible for all day-to-day operations, including ice costs, league fees, officials, coach compensation, and program administration.
While this is a significant financial and operational commitment for our 501(c)(3) organization, it also gives us the flexibility to design better experiences for our players and families. Instead of limited ice slots and no structured summer practices, we are excited to offer enhanced programming for the upcoming Summer season, including one full-ice team practice and 10 dedicated skills sessions as part of our new model.
Ages
- JV players must be incoming 7th -10th grade only (minimum 2013 birth year).
- Varsity players must be incoming 9th-12th grade only. No incoming 7th or 8th graders may play Varsity.
- 2026 graduates and/or Seniors from 25-26 are NOT permitted to participate.
- Players who have played DI or DII Junior Hockey in 25-26 are not permitted to participate.
Season Information
Regular Season Starts- Sunday May 3rd
Regular Season Ends- Sunday July 19th
Playoffs -Sunday July 26th & Aug 2nd
No Games on May 24th or July 5th
(Memorial Day and Independence Day weekends)

$700
Includes Club Dues, Practices & Games.

Season Practices
1 Full Ice Practice Per Team at the start of the season.
10 Combined skills practices.
Playoffs. Each team that makes the playoffs will have 1 Practice before playoffs.
Games
Games will be on Sunday afternoon/evening at various CHSC/CC locations. Home Teams will play at CHSC/CC Rink nearest to their school whenever possible.

Jerseys
Jersey & Team Apparel Purchasing Information will be made available at tryouts. We partner with MonkeySports for all of our team gear.

Summer 2026 Tryouts
McKinney Ice Hockey Club invites all eligible high school players to our 2026 Summer High School Hockey Tryouts. This summer evaluation skate is designed for rising and current high school athletes who wish to compete for roster spots with McKinney Ice Hockey Club for the upcoming season.
Players will be evaluated by our coaching staff through skill drills, small-area games, and scrimmage situations, with a focus on skating, puck skills, compete level, and coachability.
Goalies will receive evaluations within the same sessions.
All participants must hold a current USA Hockey membership and wear full approved equipment. Final team placements and next‑step information will be emailed shortly after tryouts, and additional club details will be provided to families during check‑in.
