McKinney Ice Hockey Club – Summer 2026 Tryouts
McKinney Ice Hockey Club (MIHC) is excited to announce tryouts for our Summer 2026 high school hockey program. Our summer season is designed to keep players on the ice, sharpen skills, and prepare for the upcoming fall while representing McKinney with pride.

• Zoned to McKinney ISD (MISD)
• Incoming 7th–12th grade students for the 2026–2027 school year (minimum 2013 birth year)
• Players who meet all MIHC and league eligibility requirements and are in good academic standing
If you are unsure about your eligibility, please refer to the eligibility information on our club website or contact the club for clarification.

• Location: Children’s Health StarCenter – McKinney, 6993 Stars Ave, McKinney, TX 75070
• Please plan to arrive at least 45 minutes early to check in and get dressed.
Cost and Registration
• Tryout fee: $20 per player (non‑refundable)
• Registration: All players must register online in advance; no walk‑ups will be accepted.
• Registration link: https://www.mckinneyicehockey.org/registration/62938
Your tryout fee helps cover ice time, evaluators, and operational costs for running high‑quality sessions.
What to Bring
• Full, legal game-ready equipment (including mouthguard and neckguard)
• Light and dark practice jerseys (if you do not receive a numbered pinnie at check‑in)
• Water bottle, positive attitude, and a team‑first mindset
Goalies should bring all goalie gear; if you plan to play goalie only, please indicate this clearly during registration.
What to Expect at Tryouts
Players will be evaluated on:
• Skating, puck control, passing, and shooting
• Game awareness, compete level, and coachability
• Positional play in small-area games and scrimmage situations
Coaches and evaluators will use these sessions to place players in appropriate summer roles and to identify athletes with potential for fall Varsity and JV rosters.
After Tryouts
• Players will receive communication via email with placement and next steps once evaluations are complete.
• Selected players will receive details on summer ice schedules, program fees, and any required paperwork.
• Being invited to participate in the summer program does not guarantee a specific fall roster spot but is an important step in the overall evaluation process.
