What a night on the South Rink! McKinney JV White delivered an electric performance Sunday evening, defeating Plano West 6β4 in a back-and-forth battle that kept fans on their feet until the final buzzer. π₯
First Period: Fast Start for McKinney π
McKinney came out flying, striking first when #72 Ronald Liu buried the opener just 2:25 into the game. Plano West evened the score five minutes later, but McKinney quickly answered #31 Viktor Chuprov found the net off a slick setup from Liu to take a 2β1 lead heading into intermission.
Second Period: Trading Goals π
The energy carried into the second as #60 Kenneth Barrus extended McKinneyβs lead to 3β1 midway through the frame. Plano West fought back, scoring twice including a shorthanded goal that tied it 3β3 before the second intermission. The game was up for grabs, and the crowd could feel the tension building. π―
Third Period: McKinney Power Surge β‘οΈ
Plano West briefly took control on a power play goal early in the third, going up 4β3. But McKinney didnβt blink. While shorthanded, Liu struck again this time assisted by Chuprov and #55 Jacob Measels tying the game 4β4 and swinging momentum back to McKinneyβs bench.
Moments later, Chuprov added his second of the night (and third point!) with help from #83 Rhett Pierson, giving McKinney the lead once more. To seal the deal, #17 Caleb Sloan buried the insurance goal with under two minutes to play, assisted again by Chuprov. π
